Richmond Golf Club raises record-breaking £230,000 to support The Royal Marsden
Club Captain, Ian, wanted to give back to the hospital after his son received life-saving cancer treatment and care.

The Richmond Golf Club chose The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity as their Captain’s Charity for 2024-2025 and achieved a record-breaking total. From golf tournaments to special themed events, The Richmond Golf Club members and supporters went above and beyond, raising a phenomenal £230,632!
This generosity will go a long way in helping us continue to provide the best care, support our dedicated teams of doctors and nurses, and fund cutting-edge cancer research.
Supporting phenomenal care at The Royal Marsden
For Ian Gibb, Captain of The Richmond Golf Club, supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity was a personal cause, having witnessed firsthand the life-saving care provided to his son, Jasper. "Supporting The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity throughout my year as Captain of The Richmond Golf Club was a very personal motivator for me following the life-saving care they provided to my son, Jasper.” Says Ian.

“I was overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our members, who, as is always the case, dig deep to support worthy causes and as it transpired, The Royal Marsden resonated with so many of them. The personal stories I heard from so many underlined our family's own experience, and I am proud that The Richmond Golf Club have contributed such a considerable donation that will go towards helping others in the future."
An unforgettable year of fundraising
Highlights from The Richmond Golf Club’s year of fundraising included:
- A Captain's Charity Day – a fantastic day out on the course, with members coming together for a day of golf, fun, and fundraising ending in a very competitive auction.
- The Longest Day saw golfers taking on an epic challenge—completing four rounds of golf in just one day. It was a real test of endurance and an incredible show of commitment to raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
- Other events throughout the year included a Corporate Golf Day, a Burns Night Event, themed events and selling honey from bees on at the Club, which raised an incredible £1,000!
