Oncoplastic surgery at The Royal Marsden

Help us fund two surgical microscopes to support the pioneering techniques used by the plastic and reconstructive surgery team.

Each year The Royal Marsden’s oncological and plastic surgeons carry out more than 600 oncoplastic procedures, mostly involving breast cancer patients. These complex surgeries rely on surgeons having access to the latest equipment to ensure that they can provide the most advanced surgery procedures and techniques to patients.

Oncoplastic surgery involves combining the latest plastic surgery techniques with cancer surgery procedures to not just remove a patient’s cancer, but also improve their quality of life post-surgery by providing the best aesthetic outcome possible.

Reconstruction is a vital part of surgery for most patients. For our surgeons to continue to offer every patient who would benefit from surgery the most advanced surgical options, they need state-of-the-art equipment. This is why we need your help to fund two surgical microscopes, for our theatres in Chelsea and Sutton, which offer superior image quality and real time tissue analysis to help reduce side effects post-surgery. This equipment is instrumental in performing reconstructive surgery on patients like Delilah Jeary (pictured left), who was treated for breast cancer at The Royal Marsden.
