Shiona's story

Fun loving adventurer, Shiona Ramage was 45 years old when she was first diagnosed with melanoma in June 2016. Since then she has been receiving treatment at The Royal Marsden.

Following her diagnosis, Shiona was inspired to make a difference to the lives of other people affected by cancer. She got to work recruiting her closest friends and family to fundraise for Melanoma research. Through taking on challenges such as a danceathon, swimming Loch Lomond, running The Royal Parks Half Marathon, and many more, they have raised over £125,000! But they have no intention of stopping there, with several more events in the pipeline.

Shiona has also used her experiences to speak out and raise awareness of Melanoma. She has supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity by speaking at events, as well as writing a regular blog - Shomelanoma, where she documents her adventures and shows that cancer doesn’t necessarily need to stop you doing the things you love.
